An art class taught on two wheels - The Boston Globe - Boston.com - Local - News
Others have been doing this for years. Still, it’s a good idea. But had it be Critical Mass (who sometimes follow this same route), they’d all have been arrested and their bikes confiscated.

Life of Lance

Friday, July 29th, 2005

Oh no.
Life of Lance to be played by Damon
I wonder if he’ll still be puffing away on those cigarettes while wearing a yellow bracelet, like he’s doing now.

The more I read about this incident, the sadder it gets. A team wiped out by a learning driver who lost control.
And here in the US, there are those, particularly radio talk show hosts and columnists who advocate running cyclists down for sport. I hope Howie is dancing with glee over this.

I’m going through Tour withdrawal!
When are those DVDs coming out?

Congratulations

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

Congratulations to Iker Flores (EUS/ESP), Lantern Rouge of the Tour de France. Great going!
Oh, and to Lance Armstrong, Thor Hushovd, Mickael Rasmussen, Yaroslav Popovych, and Oscar Pereiro and to T-Mobile. What an incredible result for Discovery Channel with four riders in the top 25. And what a finish by Vino!
I can only hope this is [...]

TdC Photos

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

Got the photo pages up and running, or at least some of them.
Not sure if I’ll have time to do more anytime soon. Things are a bit out of control at the moment.

A quick picture

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

Still busy catching up with work, but here’s a quick photo from the trip:

Day 3 at the top of the Kanc. (l-r) is Tim, Marc, Bryan, Jeanne, me, Barb, Roland
And some proof:

TdC Ride log

Monday, July 18th, 2005

Got the ride log updated for the TdC. Will have other things to write about it soon. Right now, I’m so far behind in work, that I have to tend to that first.
Highlights:
First two and last day were very fast
Reached max speed of 51.3 mph decending Kinsman Pass
Crossed Kancamagus Pass and Kinsman Pass

Tah!

I leave tomorrow morning for the Tour de Cure!! Woot! I’ve been waiting for this all year.
Spending the night tonight in a hotel near the start line in Woburn and I’ll get back next Friday, July 15.
Updates when I return.

My gripe about OLN

Wednesday, July 6th, 2005

So Lance is retiring. Okay. But this Lance worship on OLN is really starting to grate. What they should be doing, IMO, is talking up the other Americans in the race. Like Dave Zabrieskie, for eg. Not once did they intereview him. A yellow jersey and no interview. Leipheimer. Landis. They did interview Hincapie [...]

Sunday 81

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Big cycling weekend. It was good. But I forgot sunscreen on both days. I now have Bell Ghisallo shaped sunburns on my head.
Monday I went 80 miles following the Bikes Not Bombs
100k ride marks. I’ve never done their ride as 1) they keep moving the
date around, 2) I end up with a conflict and 3) [...]

TdF

Sunday, July 3rd, 2005

So the Tour de France started yesterday! Finally, at long last, something worth watching on tv. On tv, you say? Yes! It seems Comcast turned on OLN for everyone for the month of July. If you’re in Boston, it’s on analog channel 62. I’m not sure what it is on digital.
But as I did a [...]

Saturday 70

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

Did 70 miles today. It was a good pace, generally, but I didn’t push. I’ve noticed I have a numb toe. I’m not sure when that happened. I also forgot sunscreen, but didn’t burn too badly. I was a very nice day. It struck me that this may be only the 2d day I’ve ridden [...]

Longsjo

Friday, July 1st, 2005

So I went. And it was good.
I watched a couple of the circuit races from a couple of different spots and it was interesting. Far smaller crowds that I expected. I at lunch in a place downtown and the waitress there didn’t even know it was going on. This was the 46th running of [...]
