TdF

So the Tour de France started yesterday! Finally, at long last, something worth watching on tv. On tv, you say? Yes! It seems Comcast turned on OLN for everyone for the month of July. If you’re in Boston, it’s on analog channel 62. I’m not sure what it is on digital.

But as I did a ride yesterday, I didn’t watch the race until evening. The bad news is that Al Trautwig is back. Ugh. I mean, Bob Roll is not a great commentator, but at least he knows what he’s talking about, and I can take him in small doses. Trautwig, OTOH, just tightens my colon. So I guess I’ll just have to watch it live during the day for Phil & Paul. I really wish they’d just show a streaming version like they did for the Giro.

I was also surpised there was no prolog this year. Yesterday was Stage 1. I’m not quite sure why that is. It looks as if Jan did not look good. But it’s already shaping up to be a fantastic race with Greg Lemond’s TT record already falling to Dave Zabriskie. Can Riis put together a team or what!?!

As always cyclingnews.com has the best coverage.
