Nice shots. I can’t believe how the crossbar on that bike completely snapped. Ouch.

Actually, it was “helped” along. It’s (with ’s meaning “was”) a carbon fiber bike. There were a dozen or so fibers holding it together after the accident, but they didn’t hold for long.
It was originally a Trek Pilot. It was a loaner bike. The Trek guy was from Trek’s “Ride The Best” tour where they follow rides like this around and loan bikes for test rides.

Excellent photos. What was the deal with the wolf-looking dog trip companion? One of the other riders’ puppy, or just completely random wolf bonding with bikers?

She just came bounding out of the woods and ran along side me for quite a ways taking brief stops to check out anything moving in the brush on the side of the road.
She only paced me, though. There was someone a ways ahead and a ways behind me and she only paced alongside me.
