Acton
Took a ride to Acton-Boxborough High School to see how long it would take. It’s the starting point for the CRW ride in a couple of weeks, and the zipcar rentals are getting expensive (and probably will become moreso with gas at $3.50/gal), especially when this one seems close enough to ride to.
It takes about two hours.
I was surprized how close it is to South Acton (although I’m not quite sure why I was surprized). I rode to S. Acton for the Cycle for Site ride, and this is only about one or two miles farther. The century starts at 8:00 am but the 100k ride doesn’t start until 9:30 which should give me plenty of time to get there. It’s 50 miles there and back, so it looks like it will be a 115 mile day, except that I can cut about 10 miles and a bit of time off of that if I take the T to Alewife (provided the T cooperates).
Also, I won’t be doing the NVP Century, which is sad, but I need to save energy for the TFCE the next day. This will probably be my one and only TFCE, so I’ll be back at the NVP next year.
