The site
Well, it’s about done.
There are a few pieces of information missing, but the layout and design are finished, and it’s ready to be populated. I expect things will be slow until spring. Nobody really thinks about it until, like, March or April, so there’s plenty of time to publicise it.
I’ve got a few announcements and other posts to make as soon as I have some time. Then I need to get some photos uploaded to prime the pump, so to speak.
The biggest missing thing is, of course, the whole Ocean State ride. I know next to nothing about it, have never ridden it, and don’t know what to post. So I’m going to have to count on someone else for that. Or maybe just eliminate it altogether. http://www.NewEnglandClassic.org will get you to the same place, so … … …
So for the one or two people who read this, you’re seeing it before anyone else. Constructive criticism welcome. Mostly.

I think that it came out very nice. *applause*
The one thing I don’t like about it, and this probably goes against all websites that use phpBB and/or Coppermine, is that those two sections take you out of the “master” design of the site. The main navigation menu dissapears completely (for real estate reasons) and therefore seems disconnected. In order to get back, you have to click on the logo, which brings you back to home, and then you can choose to go elsewhere.
How to fix it? I don’t know, outside of adding a horizontal site menu on top which would be even more confusing (site menu + phpBB/Coppermine menu = too much). Bah, I forgot what my point was.

Yes, that’s one of my complaints as well. The only way to do it, IMO, is to redesign the site to use a horizontal menu, like I go here (The gallery link, above, is a Coppermine installation).
Coppermine could probably handle a menu on the left, but I don’t think phpBB could. There just isn’t enough real estate. I’ll see what I can do, though.

Another difference is that your gallery on this site shares the same width as the rest of the site. The CNE site is narrow/left-aligned and then jumps to fullscreen in phpBB/CM.

Friggin’ sweet!

John: yeah. The Coppermine code is way easier to deal with than the phpBB code. But I think I can shoehorn in the menu on the side. That’s something I can do as time permits, though.
mns: thanks. I take it that means you’re coming up to do the ride next summer?
