Nashoba Valley and Mt. Wachusett

Shopping

Took a little ride around town to do some shopping. Total was about five miles, probably. Spun around Downtown Crossing for a bit, then over to Petco f/k/a Boston Pet next to the Galleria in Cambridge. Totally uneventful except for the jackase in the Gold Denali who was leaving the Galeria parking lot and waved me across in front of him, then tried to run me down and took off laughing all the way down the street. Very funny, asshole. At least his girlfriend wasn’t amused.

Took the cargo bike. I need fenders. The rear carrier blocks a lot of the crap, but not all of it and there’s no protection on the front at all. Must do something about that.

It was fairly warm. That’s one of the bad things about Boston. The weather is never one way or the other, it’s always on the border. It’s not cold enough to snow so the precipitation is this ultra messy “mix”. Then it gets cold and freezes into blackice. Then it melts and gets rutted. All the while, the city is dumping tons of sand and salt making it nearly impossible to get anywhere at all. That and, for most of the winter, I end up having to carry the dog across the streets to avoid the salt. So I wish it would either go below freezing and stay there, or not get down to freezing at all. One or the other. This bouncing back and forth is maddening.

To change the subject: Why are those rope bones so expensive all of the sudden? Twelve freaking dollars for a 12-inch rope! And why are the prices in the store more than the prices online? Hmmm?? HMMM?
