X2
William Stryker (Brian Cox) is on a mission to destroy all mutants and co-opts the president into authorizing a “special ops” to do it. Professior Xavier and the X-Men, -Women, -Boys and -Girls have to band together to stop him. This is better than the first X-Men, I think because it doesn’t have to spend time introducing all the characters and can devote more time to the story. It would be nice for some of these superhero movies to start in the middle, as it were, taking the character/superhero creation as read, and starting off with a story instead of the “making of”.
The characters were well developed and the story was quite good. Many story lines were only partly developed which, in addition to the vast number of characters, leaves a lot of room for more sequels. It took me a while to place Jean Grey (Famke Jansen) but I eventually realized she was Xenia Onatopp in James Bond Goldeneye. Ian McKellen as Magneto was great.
What’s your secret super power?
Rating: B; would watch again.
