Tora! Tora! Tora!
Probably one of the most historically accurate movies about WWII ever made. The tale of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor told from both the American and Japanese sides. The planning, buildup, and execution as well as the missteps, bungling, and oversights are all here.
The critics, especially Roger Ebert, gave this a thrashing, but I loved it. But Ebert does have a point when he says this is a bit like an visual aide, but I guess I like that kind of stuff. I can watch things like World at War for hours. It’s true, you don’t really ever get to know the characters involved, and I suppose that could be a fault for those looking for drama but whatever.
