Cape Ann
Had some things to do around the house, so I didn’t get an early start. Got the 12:15 train to Beverly Depot, then rode, basically, route 127 to Rockport and took the train back from there.
Beautiful day, onshore breeze most of the day. Very sunny. After getting there, I’m not sure I’ve ever been to Rockport before. I’ve been to Gloucester many times, but I must have never gone on to the outer cape. Rockport harbor is very cool and very touristy and packed with people. Some of the roads up there are in extremely bad shape, almost bad enough to have to walk rather than ride. The surface has completely degraded into pebbles. They really should just strip the surface and leave it dirt, it would be a better quality. Still, the scenery is awesome, lots of rocky shores and lighthouses.
Thought about riding to Newburyport and taking the train back from there, but I ran out of time which is a good thing as later, I found that next train back from Newburyport wasn’t until 6:00. As it was, the one back from Rockport was 5:10 and didn’t get in until 6:20. My poor dog is sitting here with crossed legs.
