Riders want more of new bike coaches - The Boston Globe
You’ve got to love the “T”.  (Where “love” means shake your head in disgusted wonderment.)

T spokesman Joe Pesaturo said the car was never designed to be part of a rush hour weekday train, citing the tripping hazard for commuters because of the bike racks and [...]

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling

[amazon] [MBLN]
I ran out of things to read and looking over my bookshelves, I realized I never read this after buying when it came out.
The sixth in the Harry Potter series. Harry’s 16 now.
What can you say about these? They’re great. Some dismiss them as fluff, but I disagree. Several years ago when #4 came [...]

I’m in pain.
20-some years ago, I had an accident surfing. The nose of the board purled under and I hit bottom face first. Ever since then, I’ve had a recurring back problem. I don’t know if it’s muscle or nerves or what, but there’s a spot just between my left shoulder blade and spine [...]

[netflix] [IMDb]
Independent filmmaker Morgan Spurlock takes a look at the state of diet and nutrition and its related health effects on modern American society. Using a “30-day McDonalds-only binge diet and no exercise” as the plot device to move the film along, he looks at the health effects and societal costs of fast food and [...]

Cape Ann

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

It was a beautiful day. I got an e-mail last night from Victor wondering if I wanted to do a lobster run to Cape Ann. As it turned out, I was able to get out of work, so “yes” was the answer to that.
We took the 8:30 train to Beverly Depot. I almost missed the [...]

[amazon] [MBLN]
The last of the four serial killer books my freind lent me.
This one is particularly interesting to me as it takes place in Boston in the last quarter of the 19th century, a period I’ve spent some time studying. What strikes me about this book is the sloppy fact checking. Whether this is true [...]

New chain

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

Swapped out the old chain for a new Wipperman. The old one was borderline, but not yet too far gone. I’m hoping this will eliminate the grinding feel from yesterday’s ride.

Concord-Carlisle

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

Took a northwest loop yesterday. It was the first nice day is about as long as I can remember. Very, very light traffic for some reason. Everyone must be on the interstates or something. Took the Minuteman to Bedford, then to Kimballs in Carlisle, to Carlisle center returning through Concord, by Walden, Lincoln, and Belmont.
Stopped [...]

Tyler banned for life?

McQuaid: Hamilton facing lifetime ban; four years possible for Ullrich, Basso
That doesn’t seem quite fair. If Hamilton’s current ban is a result of this contact, surely it’s all part of the same thing? That is, unless he’s had contact after his current ban went into place. If that’s the case, then yes, otherwise, no.
