The numbers, they be off

Yesterday was the quarterly checkup thing and my numbers were a bit off. I thought they might be.

A1c is up to 6.0 from 5.3. That’s not good. Below 6.0 is target, but I’d like to have a little more room than that. A 0.7 jump is a lot in only 3 months, I think. Must re-evaluate. But the one really out of whack is called “CK (CPK)” protein. Normal range is between 38-174 IU/L and mine was 898 IU/L. Presence of CK is a marker for muscle damage and is a possible side effect of statin drugs. It can also be caused by “overexertion” and, as I was at the gym the day before they drew blood and overdid it a bit, that may have caused it. I didn’t think I really overdid it that much though. Then again, it’s Friday and I still feel it. Must have more blood drawn in 10 days and re-evaluate then. All other numbers are fairly good except that I’m still chronically anemic.

And it’s raining.

I have a century tomorrow, though. That should be good.
