Brake pads
Got some brake pads from REI Saturday and installed them today on the SS. The ones it (the SS) came with were ultra cheap and just sort of dissolved into a black goo that gets all over everything when it rains. So I got some Aztecs. Now the front brake squeals like you wouldn’t believe and I can’t get it stopped. That’s almost always caused by the pads not being aligned right. They have to have a toe-in so that the front hits the rim first, otherwise they vibrate. I’ve got such a radical toe-in now that the back of the shoe almost doesn’t close and it still squeals. I’m hoping it will stop once they’re broken in.

One thing I feel strongly about is my Eagle Cool Stop brake pads. Before Newfoundland, ATA put some Aztec II’s on my bike (despite me specifying the Cool Stops)..they were destroyed within the month..of course, you know I can be a bit of a brake rider.
Anyhow, I just let you know this, becuase I sincerely believe that the Eagle brakes are the best there are.
In other news, thanks to your link on DB Cooper to Wikipedia, two nights ago, I stayed up till 3 AM reading true crime account on the web, until I got so freaked out, I closed ALL OF MY WINDOWS so that random axe murders would not crawl while I was trying to sleep. I got about 3 hours of hot stiffling sleep. Thanks. Thanks alot.

I have Kool Stops on my road bike, but for some reason didn’t think about them for the SS. I have these same Axtecs on my MTB and they work pretty well. Maybe I’ll change them again next time around.

Also, in re true crime… if you want to read something really creepy, like, stay awake at night creepy, read about Albert Fish.
