Corpse Bride
Victor (Johnny Depp) is about to be married to Victoria (Emily Watson), an arrangment made by their parents. Victor isn’t very good under pressure and botches the rehearsal. He goes off by himself to practice in the nearby woods and finally gets the vows correct, but in doing so accidentally marries the Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter).
A nice story, nothing to cross town for. The animation is great and is some of the best stop-motion I’ve seen, Wallace and Gromit included. The characters are right out of Tim Burton’s imagination (and would look at home in Edward Scissorhands or Batman or any other Tim Burton movie). I have a pretty good ear for voices but was unable to pick out Joanna Lumley (Victoria’s mother). Depp and Carter were easy as was Tracey Ullman (Victor’ mother) and Christopher Lee (the Parson). Most of the others I didn’t know.
Nice way to spend an hour on a rainy afternoon.
