Dog food
I was almost out of dog food Frday, so decided to run down to the store on Friday to get more. This is one of the things I got the messenger bag for. Normally, I’d take my cargo bike (a big, heavy Schwinn with lots of baskets and things), but this time I wanted to try the IRO with the messenger bag.
Yipes! I don’t want to do that very often! The bag held up really well when stuffed with four 8# bags of dog food and I didn’t have any trouble carrying it (no shifting of loads, etc), but, man, does that every change the center of gravity! Mass Ave and Albany St are also way busy and that wasn’t helping. (The shop is on Southhampton St.) I wasn’t really afraid of slipping or anything, but it was anyone’s guess what would happen if I had to make a panic stop. The back tire could also have used a few extra pounds of air for the load. It was a little squirrely and squishy.
