Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Jack Finney
Awesome book. I really need to rent the 1956 movie again because I cannot remember the ending.
Mill Valley California is invaded by pods from outer space that quietly duplicate every person in town. The change is subtle but noticed, and Dr. Miles Bennell must protect his friend (and girlfriend) from becoming a pod person. The description of the transformation and the reasons behind it are explained which is also something I don’t remember from the film.
This is easy to read and does a good job at keeping the suspense going. The ending is weak, which is why I’m trying to remember what was in the film. I though then ending in the 1970’s version (with Donald Sutherland) was excellent.
A very good read.
