Singledom

I was born to be single, and that’s what I prefer 9944/100% of the time. But there are times when it would be nice to have a partner. This is one of those times.

I’m going to be starting renovations. Kitchen and bath. What does that have to do with partnering? Someone needs to do a sanity check. I mean, I’m not exactly a Spartan, but I don’t have a flashy lifestyle. But I got the estimate from the carpenter heading this thing up and it was, like, take the wildest, most super highest amount you can think it could possible be, then add 50%. I mean I picked some nice stuff, but it’s all basically middle of the line.

Yowsa. I mean, I really don’t have any choice. The place is falling apart. The kitchen cupboard doors don’t stay shut, the shelves are sagging, the shower tile is cracked, the toilet is one of those million gallons per flush things, the kitchen faucet leaks, the disposal jams, the oven doesn’t work. New dishwasher, though, that broke about a year and a half ago.

I know these are the two most expensive rooms to do, but jumpin jesus at the five and dime, it’s more than half of what I paid for the place originally. There has to be a way to pare this down without resorting crap stuff.

This is going to be a torturous process.

Ok, first, did you read Vic’s blog entry on “Valentines Day”. He is a heartless bastard, and believe me, there are plenty of times I’d rather have been single in this torture that is moving and collaborating on every single color, design, style, paint finish, object.

Have you though of this: SELL?

    Just an idea ;-)

Actually, this is in lieu of selling. I did try to sell last year. The place was on the market for almost 8 months without any interest of any kind. That was right at the beginning of the “collapse” but it still should have sold, IMO. But it didn’t. And now that the market is completely dead, it’s clear I’ll have to stay here. And if I’m going to stay here, it’s going to be a place I want to live in.

Yes, I did read his posting. But then, that’s what you get when you date a focused, driven over-achiever! :-)

[...] I went to add a “renovations” topic to this here blog thing and found that I’d already done it last February. [...]
