Back in the saddle
Finally got back out on the bike. It’s been two months!?!?! It felt good. I guess the winter at the gym made sure I didn’t lose it all. It was nearly 70 degrees out with overcast skies. Wore a vest but no warmers.
I’ve got a ton of work to do and it kept getting later and later until I decided I just couldn’t let this go to waste. Especially when there’s a winter storm warning been issued for Thursday. So around 3:00 I got ready to go. Then I spent about 20 minutes trying to DSTify my cyclometer. The new model rearranged all the buttons compared to the one I was used to that I lost somewhere in Maine. Now it’s like the Saturday Night Live watch commercial that takes three hands to set it.
The trail is in tough shape in some spots. Not a lot of ice on the surface itself, but there’s a lot next to the trail, so there’s melt in many places and the sand that goes along with it. It was warm except by the water (Charles River, Fresh Pond, Spy Pond) where it was mighty chilly since there’s still ice floating on a lot of it. Not many riders out. Since I got a late start, I only did the trail. Not sure what the streets would have been like, but it’s good I stayed to the bikeway because the rush hour traffic on the way back was something to behold. Man am I glad I don’t do that any more.
