Bicycles and Icicles: Sack ‘em all

Best comment seen so far: “The Tour reminds me of Lindsay Lohan”

Ooh! I was on telly!

I forgot. The interview thing I did for dLife was on last Sunday. I was pretty much edited out. My face was on there, but I had nothing to say. The guy who called giving me the dates of airing said there will be four shows and from what I can see, they’re going to [...]

Time

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

As I add it up, this year’s TdC NEC was 581 miles exactly with 38:57:20 in the saddle.  That equates to just short of 15mph.
Must get my thank-you letter written. And pictures posted. And back to work.

I’m home. I’m tired. I had fun.

Seven days later and I’m home without incident. I had a great time. It’s a very tough but beautiful ride. Thank you to all of my sponsors. I owe you more than I can say.

Sleep now. More later.

How do you people do it?

2 Hours!
Lordy, if I had to do that every day I either be dead or jailed.

Vacation!!!

Friday, July 13th, 2007

I leave in a couple of hours for the Tour de Cure New England Classic.
I can’t wait!
I’m spending the night in Woburn at the hotel and the ride leaves at 8am tomorrow morning.  Yessss! Seven days, 550-miles through the mountains. No cell phone, no Internet, no newspaper, no TV. Heaven.
So far, I’ve raised $3900!! Better [...]

Renovations, July 12

Countertop today. It’s beautiful!

And the toilet tank finally came. They wanted to take the old one, but … it’s still attached. They’ve been stringing me along for almost 2 weeks. They can wait.
But I lerve this countertop.

Awesome idea!

Renovations, July 9

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Called the builder and they likely won’t be in until Friday of this week. That’s okay by me. I’ve got a lot of things to do to get ready for the trip, and some things to arrange and pick up before they get back at it. Hopefully, they’ll be done by the time I get [...]

Renovations, July 6

Not much today, except I HAVE A WORKING SHOWER! Woo hoo! The piece of tile behind the divertor valve was cut too much, so it will have to be dug out and replaced so the valve cover has something to rest on. The hand-held showerhead leaks a bit, but I think that’ s just a [...]

Renovations, July 5

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Mostly bathroom today. They evened up the cabinet doors in the kitchen, installed the vanity and vanity top, hooked up the sink, grouted the step, installed the bathroom cabinet, and put some plywood on the shelf top.
The bathroom cabinet is a little weird. It’s about 7 feet high, and I was expecting a 5-foot and [...]

Renovations July 3

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Mostly deliveries today. The appliances came around 10 am, but they didn’t bring the fridge. The delivery guys said it was “back ordered”. Actually, it’s been sitting in their storage warehouse for about a month. So I called and it turns out they’d either ordered the wrong one or gave mine to someone else. I [...]

Renovations, July 2

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

You know, if I have one complaint about this contractor, it’s that he doesn’t communicate enough. He’s doing great work and doing it very quickly, but I haven’t been through this before and if I don’t know what’s going to happen I get very uncomfortable. No one showed today. I’m not sure if that was [...]

Renovations, July 1

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Another slowish day. Decided to take the train up to Woburn to see if I could find any drawer pulls I liked. I couldn’t and was back home by 3:30, including a stop for lunch and at Trader Joes.
