Renovations, July 5
Mostly bathroom today. They evened up the cabinet doors in the kitchen, installed the vanity and vanity top, hooked up the sink, grouted the step, installed the bathroom cabinet, and put some plywood on the shelf top.
The bathroom cabinet is a little weird. It’s about 7 feet high, and I was expecting a 5-foot and 2-foot section, but it’s 4 and 3. That’s going to make it tough to put mops and brooms in it. That was the reason to get it in the first place. I suppose I’ll have to have the shelf separating the section have a hole cut in it. No other shelves came with it! What’s up with that?
I’m a bit disappointed with the vanity top. There are some flaws in the stone that don’t looks so great, but I suppose I’ll get used to that. There are some brown speckles in the black. Still, it looks good. AND I HAVE A SINK!!! I don’t have to brush me teeth bent over the toilet bowl any more!
The sink and the drain didn’t line up exactly, so he had to put some weird looking ess-bend thing on it. Works fine, though. AND I HAVE A SINK!!!
I called the countertop guy to tell him to avoid the white-ish area of the stone as much as possible. And also that I’d be bringing back some full boxes of tile. I think I’ll get about $300 back in returns for that. Oh! And he said he couldn’t promise, but it was likely he could install the countertop next Wednesday. Woohoo! It could quite possibly be done before I leave!
