I hoped they would be finished by the time I got back from my bike ride, but they weren’t. They are getting very close, however. They came yesterday to finish hooking up the dishwasher, so now the only things left are to finish installing the crown molding in the kitchen, install the trim pieces around the dishwasher and install some shelves on the bare wall across from the fridge and … uh … that’s it.

Oh, and gel coat the tub to fix the damage from the accident. Thursday while I was gone, the painter fell off the ladder, and the ladder hit the tub and put a nice ding in it. I came home Friday and was here all weekend but didn’t notice it until they pointed it out on Monday. Of far more concern to me is a gouge in the side of the fridge. That can’t be fixed. But it is against the wall, so no one will see it. I’m not convinced I want this gel coat thing. I’ve never seen it done and the last thing I want is for this to look like some spray painted trailer bathroom a year from now.

Still, I’m really happy with the way this has turned out. The backsplash looks fantastic with the countertop. They staggered the edge which I think was a great idea. Much less blocky and
very cool looking.

I’m still having real trouble finding drawer pulls that I like. I may just have to punt on those and get the stainless steel looking things from Home Depot. At least those will match the appliances. I was looking at some copper colored ones on line, but I really want to see them in person before I shell out the cash for that.

The bathroom is totally finished. I still need to hang a towel holder and find some way to dress up the shelf above the shower, but that’s it.
