Off to Ohio

DaveA death in the family is taking me back to Ohio. I think the last time I was there was about 15 or 20 years ago to attend the funeral of my grandmother. I’m leaving tonight and will be back on Monday night. The funeral is Friday.

David J. Miley Sr.

David J. Miley, Sr., 50, of 4517 Morrow County Road 31, Galion, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at home after a four year illness.

Born Oct. 27, 1957 in Galion, he was the son of the late Charles R. Miley and V. Audrey (Davis) Miley who survives in Galion. He married Nina J.(Fife) Miley on Nov. 16, 1979 and she survives.

He was a 1976 graduate of Northmor High School and attended Pioneer Joint Vocational School studying machine trades.

He was a childhood member of Peace United Church of Christ and worked at Gorman-Rupp in Mansfield as a tool setter for 12 years. Prior to that, he worked at Fisher Service in Mansfield for 15 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Iberia for 15 years, a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and uncle.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, David J. “D.J.” Miley, Jr. and his wife, Eva of Galion; two granddaughters, Katarina and Cheyann Miley; one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Janet Miley of Galion and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Penny and Ron Taylor of Iberia and Kimberly and Jay Woods of Waldo.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with Pastor Marcellus de Oliveira officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
