Chuck Jones: Extremes and in Betweens, a Life in Animation

[netflix]

A pretty standard grade biopic/documentary about Chuck Jones, one of the great minds behind the greatest Warner Bros. cartoons. It documents his stamp on Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Yosemite Sam as well as his creation of Pepe LePew, the Roadrunner and Wyle E. Coyote. It also goes into a fair amount of detail about his later works like How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

It was interesting to see the faces behind so many of the names, but in waiting so long to make the film, many (Mel Blanc, Carl Stalling) had already passed on. An interesting film, but there’s very little new here. Still, it’s good to see at least clips of some of the best cartoons EVAR.
