Allen M. Riddle, 74, of Galion, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion, after an extended illness.
Born Apr. 1, 1933 in Caledonia, he was the son of the late Ralph Allen Riddle and Ellen L. (Lyon) Riddle. He married Ruth L. (Shindeldecker) Riddle on July 11, 1953 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Iberia High School in 1951 and attended Kent State and Idaho State colleges. He and his wife attended the First Presbyterian Church in Galion and was a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in Korea as a radio operator in the Signal Corp. He was the Superintendent of Galion Iron Works, Manager of Engineering of Bucyrus Erie Co. in Pocatello, Idaho, Vice President of Double L Manufacturing in Pocatello, Idaho and Vice President of Atols Manufacturing in Chicago. After retiring he started a Furniture Medic Franchise in Columbus. He was a long standing member of A.S.M.E., member of the Oliver Masonic Lodge in Caledonia and the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting in Idaho. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography and music.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jane Riddle of Galion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Allan Lepley of Columbus, Ohio and Ruth Ann and Dr. John Peters of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Pat Riddle of Sumter, S. C. and Dr. Bruce and Jane Riddle of Kent; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna Belle and Gene Davis of Palm Bay, Fla. formerly of Galion. Allen was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Mar. 7, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home and also from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Galion where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 8, with Rev. Jeff Deyoe officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday during calling hours. Full military graveside services will be held by the Galion/Crestline area veterans organizations and the U.S. Army.
