The Brain That Wouldn’t Die
[netflix] [IMDb] [archive.org]
Archive.org has quite a few downloadable and streamable good crappy sci-fi movies. This is one of them.
A scientist, Bill Cortner (Jason Evers), is experimenting with transplants when his girlfriend, Jan Compton (Virginial Leith), is decapitated in a car accident. Luckily (for Bill), his experiments are in the area of keeping dismembered parts alive until they can be transplanted. Enter “Jan in the Pan”, the decapitated head of Jan is kept in a pan with some mystery fluid keeping it “alive” and, strangely able to talk in spite of having no lungs.
A previous semi-successful Frankenstein-ian creature is kept behind locked doors but Jan is able to communicate, apparently telepathically. In the meanwhile, Bill is on the lookout for a suitable body replacement for Jan. That leads him to Doris (Adele Lamont) who has a former model who’s had a disfiguring injury (consisting of a little scratch on her face completely hidden by her hairdo) who is now only able to earn a living by posing as a photography model by a bunch of trench coat wearing skeezers.
By this time, of course, Jan (or at least her head) is hopelessly insane and she brings about the end of it all. No real surprise there.
It’s a good fiim for a rainy Saturday afternoon which it was.
