I’m of mixed mind about this. It seems to me that it would have been good to publicize this, not so much to “make an example” of the motorist, but to put front and center that motorists need to be aware of cyclists. Then again, maybe this is an effort to do that while at the same time sparing the motorist any embarrassment, something any politician is keen to do. Luckily he wasn’t more seriously hurt.
But it really does seem that Menino is taking this cycling thing to heart. That’s certainly a good thing. Maybe something actually will come out of it.
