What a weird game. And series. A friend and I sat down to watch it and had, like, 1 beer and it was over.
The Rays really fell apart. Maybe those Tampa boys can’t handle cold. Still, it was really too cold to play, I think. The forecast said it was supposed to be down to [...]

Does this hurt?
Does this hurt?
Does this hurt?
Yes.
I had my first physical therapy yesterday. Poke, twist, yank. Ouch. It wasn’t too bad, really. It was the first one, so it was mostly evaluation. She said it doesn’t look too bad, but might take some time. She gave me some stretching and exercizey things to do. Actually, [...]

Monday darts. Played two games: won doubles cricket, lost singles 301. Except I didn’t really win, my partner did. I was a drag. The team lost 5-2.

A friend had an extra ticket to the symphony last night and took me along. Nice seats, center orchestra, right behind Levine. The program had three pieces:
MESSIAEN
Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum
BOULEZ
Notations I-IV
BERLIOZ
Harold in Italy, for viola and orchestra
and you can hear pieces of them on the BSO site. It was strange in several ways. The first [...]

ELP was my first big concert and I’ve always liked them. It’s fashionable nowadays to dismiss them as pretentious and overblown, but they were a phenomenon. It was 1974, at Cleveland Stadium for the “World Series of Rock”, and all-day extravaganza with James Gang (aprez Joe Walsh) and Climax Blues Band. It was the [...]

A friend of mine had to go to a meeting in Albany and had to be there by 9:30. That mean he had to leave by, like 5:30 – 6:00 and wanted to someone to go with him to keep him awake. So as I’d really like to get out of town for a bit, [...]

Dir: Tim Burton, 2007
Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp), a barber, (apparently?) escapes exile in Australia and returns to London to find his wife poisoned and his daughter the ward of Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman), the man who trumped up the charge that exiled Barker. When his ship lands, he takes a new name Sweeney Todd [...]

I suck.
Played three games, lost all of them. I couldn’t hit a thing and neither could anybody else. Except the other team. Played Team 601, doubles cricket, and singles 301. The team lost 5-2. I don’t think anybody was into it. I finished my 301 game and the team captain looked up from his paper [...]

As the entire world knows, Red Sox lost, 3-1 last night. It’s been a fun year, especially the post-Manny part.
On the upside, there’s no more ludicrus TBS coverage. No more endless Giant Glass, Amica, ATT, or Azek Deck commercials.
The best article I’ve seen written so far.
So we’ll see what happens over the winter. My guess: [...]

That was a game, eh?
By the seventh inning I was just hoping it wouldn’t be a shutout. And then bang, bang, bang. The place really lit up after that. We were certainly helped by a couple of TB mistakes, notably Upton and, strangely, Longoria because that looked to me like a blown catch by 1B, [...]

Team win, doubles cricket win, singles 301 loss. Didn’t contribute much to the win, but we did win, 4-3.
We played at Club Cafe which has very bad lighting. I think most of the rest of our games will be there.

I broke down and bought mlbtv’s postseason special. It seems to be the only way to avoid vapid “debates”, financial meltdown news, and political commercials.
I was afraid they’d force an install of MS Silverlight, but it doesn’t. It uses an embeded MS media player (same as Netflix) The quality seems pretty good. The commercials a [...]

[netflix] [IMDb]
Geeky David (Tobey Maguire) and slutty Jennifer (Reese WItherspoon) are argumentative siblings. The current argument is over what to watch on TV. David wants to watch a “Pleasantville” marathon, a sort of Mayberry/ Leave it to Beaver/ Father Knows Best type of idylic 1950s nirvana. Jennifer is expecting a hot date and wants a [...]

It was the wrong outcome, but it was an exciting game, mostly. It was also very long. I didn’t get home until 1:30 and the game started at 7:30. Their first half inning alone was ½ hour. Yipes! Beckett was so slow in his setups, he runs the risk of taking away Carlton “The Human Rain [...]

Great game, but man am I dragging today. I thought Joe Castiglione was going to blow a gasket.
Okay, ppls, it’s time to schedule Sunday’s game. I can only guess it will be a night game so those people out there can get to bed on time. But I suppose there’s an outside chance that Sunday’s [...]
